Chukar Volleyball Goes 2-0, Earn West Regional #1 Seed at Elite 8
[Des Moines, WA] – The Treasure Valley Community College Volleyball team flew north as the East Region #2 seed, where they faced the South Region #3 seed Southwestern Oregon (SWOCC). On Saturday, November 16th, the Chukars defeated the Lakers in straight sets, 25-11, 25-21, 25-20. Final stats are not yet posted for the matchup.
Advancing to the winner's bracket on Sunday, TVCC battled the West Region #1 seed and host school, Highline College. The Thunderbirds, also the #2 overall seed in latest NWAC Coaches' Poll, were also coming off a straight-set victory after defeating the North Region #4 seed Whatcom Orcas on Saturday. The first set was a back-and-forth battle, eventually favoring the Chukars with a 26-24 set final. Highline took the second set, 20-25. The final two sets were taken by the Chukars, with scores of 25-22 and 25-18, respectively. Multiple Chukars lit up the stat sheet and finished with double-doubles. Naomi Shipley had 44 assists and got underneath 11 digs. Katelyn Markley finished with a .378 kill percentage on 22 kills and had 15 digs. Karly Clark contributed with 18 kills and 12 kills. Keysha McKean finished with a team high 19 digs, and Addison Adams chipped in with 13 digs.
With two wins, TVCC came out on top of the West Regional, earning the #1 seed going into the Elite 8 hosted by Pierce College on November 22nd-24th. The Chukars match up against Skagit Valley, who finished as the North Regional #2 seed, on Friday, November 22nd at 5:00pm (PST). Notably, the Chukars have taken on the Cardinals twice during the 2024 season, earning victories on both contests (3-0 on August 24th, 3-1 on September 14th).
