Athletic Training
The mission of Treasure Valley Community College Athletic Training is to provide quality medical services to Chukar student athletes. The Certified Athletic Trainer will work with team physicians, physical therapists and other health care providers to optimize participation of student athletes. Athletic Training focuses on the recognition, prevention, assessment, education, management and rehabilitation of athletic related injury.
TVCC is proud to have an outstanding partnership with Saint Alphonsus Medical Center, who provides our Athletic Training services to our student athletes.
Athletic Trainer- Steve Payson
Steve grew up in Monticello, Minnesota. After graduating high school, he spent 24 years in the US Air Force. He spent a majority of his time stationed at Mountain Home AFB in southern Idaho. This led him to call Boise and Idaho his home. After retiring from the Air Force, he went back to school to follow his career choice out of high school, Athletic Training.
Steve has been with TVCC since he graduated Boise State in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training. While going to school at Boise State he was able to work with the Football, Swimming and Diving, Wrestling, Soccer, Women’s Basketball and Track and Field programs. After graduating Steve was employed by St Alphonsus Rehabilitation Service (STARS). While working with STARS, Steve has worked with the US Soccer Far West Regional Championships, NBC Basketball camps, X-Games qualifiers. And several local rodeos.
Steve and his wife Kathlene reside in Boise with their daughter Leanne.
