Chukars Fall in 3 to Southern Idaho
[Ontario, OR] - On Thursday, NJCAA member and undefeated College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles made the trip to Ontario for a match with the Chukars. Although the visitors were able to take three straight sets, the Chukars kept all three sets competitive and had back-and-forth rallies throughout the night.
In set number one, CSI took the victory with a 25-17 win. The Chuks were able to put down 7 kills, to CSI's 16. Moving into the second set trailing, Treasure Valley again showed a lot of fight, but fell in set number two 18-25. Finally, in the most competitive set of the evening, the Chukars took multiple leads, but ultimately fell in the third set 23-25.
Despite the three set loss, Treasure Valley had some great individual performances. Reesa Whitworth led the way with 10 kills, followed by McCall Maxfield and Talley Blackwell with 6 and 5 of their own, respectively. Paia Kaohelaiulii recorded 22 assists, just one beind the game leader (CSI's Kennedy Peery). Macey Buesher had 12 digs on the night, while Reesa Whitworth added 9, and Lainey Keppler recorded 5.
The Chukars look to bounce back as they hit the road travelling to Lane Community College and Linn-Benton Community College on Monday and Tuesday, the 29th and 30th of August. On Monday, the Chukars will play in Eugene at 6 pm MST, and on Tuesday they will play an afternoon matchup with the Roadrunners at 2 pm MST. Treasure Valley is back at home to open up NWAC East Region play on Wednesday, September 7th at 6 pm MST to host the Walla Walla Community College Warriors. WWCC is 1-3 on the season, losing to Skagit Valley, Whatcom, and Everett. Their lone win of the season was in 5 sets over Shoreline.
