TVCC Men’s Basketball Hosts NWAC Crossover

[Ontario, OR] – The Treasure Valley Community College men's basketball team hosted the NWAC Crossover on December 13th-15th, welcoming Clark College, Tacoma Community College, and Edmonds College. Friday night's matchup saw the Clark Penguins facing the host Chukars. Despite a game-high 28 points from Kirath Makhar, TVCC was defeated 98-88. Ashraf Barsham posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Deacon Kiesbuy and Jacob Martinez each finished with 14 points.

Sights set on a victory, the Chukars next faced the Titans from Tacoma on Saturday. The Titans entered the contest undefeated, and would finish the game the same way. Despite the Chukars shooting 41.9% from three-point territory, Tacoma edged out the win over TVCC, 92-89. Eddie Rodriguez went 9-15 from beyond the arc, putting up 33 total points to lead all scorers. Deacon Kiesbuy put up 17 points off the bench, and also grabbed eight rebounds. Kirath Makhar and DeCarlo Browne finished with 11 points and 10 points, respectively. Browne led the team with nine rebounds.

The final matchup for the weekend saw the Edmonds Tritons and the Chukars taking the court. Similar to the first two days of the tournament, the Chukars kept it close and were competing for victory, but the visitors came out on top. Edmonds took the win, 95-82. Ashraf Barsham finished with 26 points, leading all scorers in the game. Eddie Rodriguez followed up his lights-out shooting effort on Saturday night with another solid scoring day, posting 18 points. Mou Mou contributed 13 points, and Kirath Makhar posted 10 points while dishing out five assists.

While the Chukars currently sit 8th best in the NWAC in average scoring with 85 points per game, they head into the Christmas break sitting 3-6. Treasure Valley will hit the road after Christmas to wrap up the 2024 calendar year at North Idaho College. They will face the host Cardinals on December 27th, Tacoma on December 28th, and finish the weekend playing Shoreline Community College on December 29th.
