TVCC Wrestling Competes at Nationals, Three Return as All-Americans

[Bossier City, LA] - The Treasure Valley Community College women's wrestling team put together an exciting and hard-fought performance this weekend at the NCWA National Tournament, showing grit, growth, and the kind of energy that continues to build this program into something special.

Leading the way was 103-pound standout Marlie Skidmore, who battled her way onto the podium and earned All-American honors with a 7th place finish. Her determination and toughness were on full display, setting the tone early for the team.

At 117 pounds, Gracie Strickland stepped into a deep and challenging bracket and competed with heart. While the results didn't fully reflect her effort, her performance showed she belongs among tough national-level competition.

At 124, Abigail Mardock showed incredible resilience throughout the tournament. After dropping her second match, she battled back through the wrestle-backs with two hard-earned wins to earn a spot in the blood round. Just one match shy of All-American honors, she came up short—but her toughness, response to adversity, and ability to keep fighting made her run impressive over the weekend and showed she's right on the verge of breaking through.

At 131 pounds, Elena Flores showed incredible resilience throughout the tournament. After dropping her second match to the number two seed, she battled back through the wrestle-backs with two hard-earned wins to put herself in the blood round. Just one match away from All-American status, she fell short—but her grit, determination, and ability to respond after adversity stood out as one of the most impressive efforts of the weekend.

Returning All-American Ava Collins continued to shine at 145 pounds, putting together an impressive tournament and finishing 3rd overall. With this performance, she secured her spot as a 2X All-American, continuing to be a cornerstone of the program and a leader on and off the mat.

At 160 pounds, Gracin Dennis delivered one of the standout performances of the weekend, battling her way to a 3rd place finish and earning All-American honors. Her resilience and competitive edge were key highlights for the team.

When it was all said and done, the women's team placed 9th overall in the nation—a huge accomplishment that reflects the growth, commitment, and culture being built at TVCC.

This group isn't just competing—they're building something. The energy, support, and drive within this team make it a special place to grow as an athlete and person.
