Women's Wrestling Recap: Mat Cat Open & Boxer Open

[McMinnville, OR // Forest Grove, OR] - The Treasure Valley Community College Women's Wrestling team participated in back-to-back weekend tournaments on January 5th and January 12th. On January 5th at the Mat Cat Open hosted by Linfield University, Ava Collins earned 1st place, not giving up a single point to her competition in the 136 lb weight class. Gracie Strickland, competing in the 120 lb weight class, earned 4th place. Stephanie Romero competed in the Chukar uniform in the 235 lb weight class, where she finished 1-1 for the tournament. 

At the Pacific University Boxer Open, Ava Collins again earned a 1st place finish. Gracie Strickland also repeated her previous weekend's efforts, finishing in 4th place. Stephanie Romero did not have any opponents at the Boxer Open. The Chukar women earned 3rd place as a team.
