Volleyball Opens Region Play 1-0

[Ontario, OR] - In an electric environment, the Chukar Volleyball program picked up their first win of the 2022 season against East Region opponent Walla Walla on Wednesday evening. Being the first win under first-year head coach Rylie Engelson, numerous players lit up the stat sheet en route to the Chukar "W". 

Macey Buesher recorded a game-high 13 digs on the evening, while teammate Lainey Keppler picked up 12 of her own. Reesa Whitworth had an impressive night with 15 kills, tied with a WWCC player for game high. Talley Blackwell and McCall Maxfield both finished with two blocks each. 

The Chukars were able to take the game in straight sets, with scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 25-20. Treasure Valley has a week to recover and prepare for East Region opponent Yakima Valley College, who travels to Ontario on Wednesday, September 14th at 6 pm. Yakima Valley is 1-0 in Region play, and 4-5 overall for the season. With last night's game being the region opener, the Chukars are in a 4-way tie for 1st place in East Region, even with North Idaho, Yakima Valley, and Spokane.
