Women's Soccer Earns Victory on Sophomore Day
[Ontario, OR] - TVCC Chukar Women's Soccer team triumphed in Eastern Region conference play on Sophomore Day with a 2-1 victory over Columbia Basin College. The match took place in front of a large and supportive crowd, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.
In a tightly contested game, Treasure Valley emerged victorious with Stella Simpson and Allie Hurst each scoring their fourth goals of the season, contributing to the team's total. Although Columbia Basin controlled possession and outshot the Chukars, the defensive efforts and determination of the Chukars were pivotal in their win. Goalkeeper Ashlynn Webb was instrumental in the victory, recording 11 saves and bolstering the team's defensive stance.
Reflecting on the match, Coach Hernholm stated, "This was a great match for us today. The girls came out hungry and ready to compete. The big difference in this game was our mindset. We went at them instead of sitting back and playing defensively. Taking a 2-1 lead into halftime gave us a lot of momentum. We knew if we could limit their build-up and shots, we'd be in a good position to hold the lead. The girls showed tremendous resilience and composure throughout the second half to secure the win."
The Chukars' victory on this special day underscored their competitive spirit and strategic play, highlighting their ability to overcome challenges and secure a significant win.
TVCC Women's Soccer will host the Warriors of Walla Walla on Wednesday, October 22nd, then travel to Yakima, WA to take on the Yakima Valley College Yaks on Saturday, October 25th.
