Chukars vs. Lakers: Dual Recap

[Ontario, OR] - Saturday's wrestling dual delivered a hard-fought battle across the lineup, with several close matches and momentum swings, but the visiting Lakers from Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) ultimately edged out Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) by a final score of 24–18.

The night opened at 125 pounds with Dashawn Jenkins (TVCC) earning a win by forfeit, giving TVCC an early team score advantage. At 133 pounds, Daniel Leming (TVCC) faced Lyosha Mitchell (SWOCC), with Mitchell securing a fall to swing points back in SWOCC's favor.
 
At 141 pounds, Chet Shumaker (TVCC) battled Davian Arevelo (SWOCC) in one of the closest matches of the night. Shumaker came up just short in an 11–10 decision in a back-and-forth contest. The momentum continued at 149 pounds where Isaiah Lemmon (TVCC) was defeated by Christ Frost (SWOCC) via technical fall, 16–1.
 
The 157-pound matchup featured another competitive bout, with Brandon Stowe (TVCC) fighting hard against Joey Downing (SWOCC). Despite a strong effort, Stowe dropped the match by a score of 12–8.
 
TVCC responded at 165 pounds with an impressive performance from Ruben Casner. Casner defeated Wyatt Harper (SWOCC) 12–10 in a full three-round match, threatening a fall in the opening period and showing consistent pressure throughout the bout. At 174 pounds, Aiden Anguiano (TVCC) added more team points with a dominant major decision victory over Armando Ramirez (SWOCC), winning 12–4.
 
The 184-pound match provided a highlight moment as Owen Scott (TVCC) secured a first-round fall against Will Abrams (SWOCC), energizing the TVCC bench. At 197 pounds, Alec Sigrah (TVCC) battled Caleb Dalke (SWOCC) in a defensive, low-scoring match that went all three rounds, with Sigrah narrowly losing 1–0.
 
The final match at heavyweight saw sophomore Cody Vance (TVCC) take on Logan Clayburn (SWOCC). Vance fought through the full match but ultimately fell by a 6–0 decision.
 
Despite several tightly contested bouts, the Lakers secured the dual victory over the Chukars with a final team score of SWOCC 24, TVCC 18.
