Chukar Wrestlers Compete at Conference

[Pullman, WA] - On March 1st, Treasure Valley Community College Wrestling traveled to Pullman Washington to compete at the NW Conference tournament. This tournament qualifies wrestlers for the National Collegiate Wrestling Championships. On the men's side, the top five placers qualify. On the women's side, all placers qualify. TVCC qualified nine wrestlers for Nationals. Ava Collins took 1st place and received the "Outstanding Wrestler Award". Four other Cuhkar wrestlers competed in the finals: Gracie Strickland at 117#, Fahad Hillesland at 149#, and Christian Mardock at 157#, where all three placed 2nd. Nico Sigrah, Brandon Stowe, Zakin Bolander, and Stephanie Romero each placed 3rd in their respective weight classes. Coming in 4th place at the 197# weight class was Cody Vance. Owen Scott wrestled well, but did not qualify for Nationals. However, he did receive a wild card bid and he will be competing at the National Tournament. In order to receive a wild card, coaches at the NW Conference Tournament place votes, where Scott was the winner. The women's team placed 3rd out of 10 teams, and the men's team placed 4th out of 10 teams. Notably, Treasure Valley Community College is the only two-year school in the NW Conference.
