Chukars Defeat Vandals in Home Dual
[Ontario, OR] - The Chukar Wrestling team had their first home dual since it was discontinued in the 60's. The Chukars hosted the University of Idaho Vandals. Starting off the dual, the Vandals received a FF at weight classes of 125 and 133. Both teams received no points as there were no 133 pounders. The Vandals then received another FF at the 141 weight class. Starting off the action at the 149 weight class for the Chukars was Fahad Hillesland. Hillesland score first, leading 3-0 in the first round. Hillesland found himself trailing going into the 3 round. In the 3 round, Hillesland put the Vandal wrestler to his back getting the fall. At the 165 weight class, Lee of the Vandals got the win over Chukar wrestler Brandon Stowe. In the 175 weight class, Vandal wrestler Schafer got a pin over Chukar Owen Scott. Going in the 184 weight class, TVCC wrestler Nico Sigrah earned a fall against Colter of the Vandals. To finish off the dual, Chukar Cody Vance eanred a FF in the 197 weight class. He did wrestle an exhibition match where he pinned his opponent. The final score of the dual fonud the Chukars on top of the Vandals, 24-20. This is TVCC's fist home dual win since the program returned to TVCC. 
 
On the women's side, the Treasure Valley Chukars also wrestled extremely well according to Coach Luis Cisneros. Both Ava Collins and Stephanie Romero pinned their opponents. "Ava looks confident on her feet and would take her opponent down at will. Stephanie also looked great. Taking control of the ties and finishing the match with a first round pin."
 
The Chukars next wrestle at the Conference Tournament with a chance to earn a spot at the NCWA National Tournament.
