Women's Basketball Drops 2 Over Holiday Weekend

[Twin Falls, ID] - The Chukar Women's Basketball team traveled to Twin Falls over the holiday weekend for the Idaho Central Credit Union Invite, hosted by College of Southern Idaho. On Friday, November 26th, the Chukars faced the home team, Golden Eagles of CSI, who were ranked #12 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Polls. CSI got off to a blistering start in the 1st quarter, puttin gup 38 points, and holding the Chuks to 9. As the game continued on, the Chukars found the bottom of the net, but couldn't stop the CSI momentum. The final score saw the Golden Eagles top the Chukars, 93-57. 

Maunayia Harrigfeld led the Chukars in scoring and rebounding, with 16 points and 10 rebounds, making it ger 3rd double-double of the season. Sophomore Mercedes Bell had 13 points. 

 

On day two of the invite, the Chukars faced the Spartans from Colorado Northwestern Community College. The game was a back and forth battle between the two teams, and came down to the final minute. With 11 seconds left in the game, the Chukars found themselves down by three points and the ball. Coming out of a timeout, sophomore Emma Clark hit the tying 3-pointer with only seconds to go. The Spartans possessed the ball with the clock winding down, and were able to hit a 2-point jumper. With 4.6 seconds remaining, Treasure Valley drew up a play to tie the game, but were unable to get off a shot. The Chukars dropped the heartbreaker, 65-63. 

Sophomore Maunayia Harrigfeld led Treasure Valley again in scoring, rebounding, and blocks, recording 17 points, 18 rebounds, and 7 blocks. This was her 4th double-double of the season. 

Sophomore Hanna Roberts recorded 11 points and 17 rebounds, fod her 2nd double-double of the season. 

Mercedes Bell contributed with 13 points of her own. 

 

The Chukars will hit the road again for a double-header on December 3rd and 4th, matching up with Portland CC and Linn-Benton CC in Albany, OR.
