Another Strong Week for Chukar Softball

Another Strong Week for Chukar Softball
Treasure Valley Community College softball had an eventful week, finishing 3–1 overall behind a strong offensive showing against Walla Walla and a split series with Columbia Basin. The Chukars opened the week with a dominant sweep over Walla Walla, winning 17–14 and 13–2 on Friday, before splitting their Saturday matchup with Columbia Basin to close out the week.
In the opener against Columbia Basin, Treasure Valley secured an 11–2 victory powered by a balanced offensive attack. The Chukars collected 13 hits in the win, led by Kellie Malan and Jessica Broadbent. Malan drove in four runs, including a home run, while Broadbent added three RBIs with a home run of her own. Rylee Nelson went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs, continuing her consistent production. Kaydence Chournos also contributed with two RBIs as Treasure Valley built an early lead and never looked back.
Shea Richardson earned the win in the circle, pitching four innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out five. Malan closed the game with a scoreless final inning. The Chukars also added pressure on the base paths, with multiple stolen bases helping extend scoring opportunities, while the defense limited mistakes with just one error.
Later in the series, Columbia Basin responded with a 13–4 win, powered by a strong offensive outing. Despite the loss, Treasure Valley still saw key contributions at the plate. Broadbent added an RBI single, Kynzee Dixon drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, and Nelson also brought in a run with a sacrifice fly of her own. Charyne Koko added a double to help generate offensive chances.
Broadbent finished the game with two hits and an RBI, while Dixon and Nelson each continued to contribute in key moments. However, Columbia Basin's offense proved difficult to contain, as the Chukars pitching staff of Malan and Richardson combined to allow 13 runs on 11 hits while striking out one batter.
Even with the split against Columbia Basin, Treasure Valley's earlier sweep of Walla Walla and strong offensive performances throughout the week helped the Chukars finish with a 3–1 record, showing both their scoring power and resilience heading into the next stretch of the season.
