TVCC Softball Opens East Region Competition at Home

[Ontario, OR] – The Treasure Valley Community College Softball team hosted North Idaho and Spokane on March 15th and 16th, just one week after going 3-1 at the NWAC Pre-Season Tournament held in Pasco, WA. North Idaho was the NWAC #1 seed coming into the matchup, and they proved it. The Chukars were unable to take a game from the Cardinals, losing 11-0 and 15-4. Chukar pitchers Shaylee Burraston, Halle Leavitt, and Madyson Arellano combined for 4 strikeouts on the day. Madison Van Sickle hit a home run in game two, and recorded 4 RBI's.

On Saturday, the Chukars got back in the win column after a defense-dominant 4-3 win. Halle Leavitt pitched 8.0 innings, striking out 6 batters. Shay McDaniel and Keysha McKean each hit home runs, and Leia Jenkins stole two bases. Game two against the Sasquatch was also back-and-forth, but did not go in favor of the Chukars, as they fell 9-8. Keysha McKean hit a second home run on the day, while Madison Van Sickle knocked two 2-base hits, while Mylee Milne and Shaylee Burraston each recorded a 2-base hit. Shay McDaniel stole two bases, while Leia Jenkins and Van Sickle each stole one. Burraston and Van Sickle combined for 5 strikeouts in the loss.

Treasure Valley Softball will be back in action on March 19th as they host the Golden Eagles of Southern Idaho in a doubleheader, then they will head to Yakima Valley College on March 22nd to continue East Region play. The Chukars currently sit 1-3 in region play, while Yakima also sits 1-3.
