Chukar Softball Splits with Columbia Basin at Home

[Ontario, OR] - Chukar Softball faced the Hawks from Columbia Basin on Saturday, April 8th in NWAC East Region play. The Hawks came into the game 9-3 in East Region, and the Chukars 11-3. In game one, the Hawks were on the scoreboard first as they brought home runs in the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th innings. The Chukars matched every run from the Hawks, as they scored in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th innings. An 8th inning was needed to decide the winner, and the Hawks put up 5 runs in the top of the 8th. The Chukars answered back with 3 runs. With 2 outs, 2 runners on base, and Madi Van Sickle at the plate, she nearly punched one out, but it came up 2 feet short from a walk-off home run. The Hawks took the victory in the first game. 

Madi Van Sickle had 2 home runs in game one, and Mylee Milne had 1. 

In game two, the Chukars had the last laugh. Runs were scored early and often, but the home team got on top in the 3rd inning and never looked back. The Chukars won game two 14-11 to split the series. Madi Van Sickle hit 2 more home runs for a total of 4 on the day, and Demry Wixom put one over the fence as well. 

The Chukars currently sit at 12-4 in NWAC East Region standings, good for 2nd place behind Walla Walla (12-2). TVCC heads to the NWAC Crossover Tournament in Yakima, WA where they will play a double header with Bellevue College on Friday, April 14th, play Everett and Chemeketa on Saturday, April 15th, and Bellevue and Olympic on Sunday, April 16th.
