Chukars Win First Game of Season, Drop 3 Others to Edmonds and Mt Hood

[Ontario, OR] - Originally scheduled to be a road trip, the Chukars were delightfully surprised with a schedule change that allowed them to play at home for the first time over the weekend. The Chukars were set to go to Coeur d'Alene, ID for the North Idaho College tournament, but with the high likelihood of rain outs, the games were moved to Ontario.

On Saturday, March 12th, the Chukars faced off with the Edmonds Tritons in a double header. The Chukars saw great offensive production in game one, winning 14-4. Sydney Shober pitched the entire first game, tallying 9 strikeouts with only 1 walk. Shayla Cherry, Emma Williams, and Demry Wixom all hit doubles, and Cherry, Gabby Lamoreaux, Mauri Wade, Sydney Shober, Tylar Dalley, Jessika Alder, and Wixom all had RBI's.

The Tritons had their bats going in game two, topping the Chukars 10-2 in five innings.

On Sunday, Treasure Valley matched up with the Saints of Mt Hood Community College. Game one was slow moving for the Chukars until the 5th inning where they scored 5 rung, as the Chukars fell 15-7 in 5 innings. Sydney Shober struck out 4 batters in 2.2 innings pitched. Gabby Lamoreaux and Amber Wickel also saw the mound in game one.

In game two with the Saints, the Chukars again had trouble finding the bat to the ball. The Chukars scored 1 run in the bottom of the 5th inning, but it was not enough to keep the game alive. Sydney Shober and Amber Wickel found themselves on the mound during game 2. Amber Wickel recorded the only strikeout of the game for the Chukars. The Saints got the best of the Chukars with a final score of 16-1 in 5 innings.

The Chukars are now 1-7 on the season, with two double-headers scheduled for this weekend, both at home. On Friday, March 18th, North Idaho College Cardinals will be in town for two games, 2 & 4 pm MST. The Cardinals are currently 5-5 on the season. On Saturday, the Chukars will host the Sasquatch of Spokane for two additional games. Those games will begin at 12 pm and 2 pm. These will be the first games of the season for Spokane.
