Chukars salvage split with Blue Mountain, 8-7, 7-6

(Ontario, OR) - The TVCC Chukar softball team fought and scratched back into game two, and won 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the CHUKS a split on the day with Blue Mountain CC.

In game one: Starting pitcher Bailee Mills gave up 7 runs in the second inning. However, the Chuks battled back and scored 7 runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning to tie it up. However, the Timberwolves responded with a run in the top of the fourth and hung on to win game one 8-7.

For the CHUKS, Mills went 3-4 to lead the offense. Elise Shenk hit her third HR of the year to tie the game in the bottom of the third. And Jaysee Willmorth hit a rare 3 RBI single to ignite that third inning outburst.

In game two: Again the Chukars allowed the Wolves to jump out to the early lead 5-0. However starting pitcher Raelyn Curry settled down and held the Wolves to allow the Chukars to come back. The CHUKS scored 4 in the bottom of the 6th inning to tie it up and eventually won it in the bottom of the seventh on the walk off RBI double by Mills, scoring Shenk who also doubled.

Macie Smith went 2-4, Shenk went 2-4, Curry went 2-3, and Makayla Aberasturi went 2-3 with 2 RBI's to lead the Chukar offense.

The Chukars, 10-10 overall and 8-6 in league, will travel to Big Bend CC this Saturday.
