Chukars Split With Yakima Valley, Set Sights on Crucial Home Series
[Yakima, WA] - Treasure Valley Community College split its midweek matchups with Yakima Valley, battling through two competitive games as the Chukars continue pushing toward a spot in the NWAC Championship.
Treasure Valley earned an exciting 7–6 victory in the first matchup behind a balanced offensive effort and strong late pitching. Cam Ueland led the way by scoring three runs and collecting two hits, including a double, while Boyd Kay went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a stolen base. Colt Durham also had a standout performance with three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, including a key insurance run in the eighth inning.
Nicholas McDaniel delivered an important RBI triple in the second inning as Treasure Valley built an early lead. On the mound, Grayson Paul pitched 7 1/3 innings while striking out five batters, and Luke Colson closed out the game with 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief. The Chukars also played error-free defense, helping preserve the narrow win.
In the second game, Treasure Valley fell 5–1 despite several strong individual performances. Hunter Christensen paced the offense by going 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, while Kade Bailey drove in the team's lone run with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Ueland once again made an impact on the basepaths, scoring the Chukars' only run and adding a stolen base.
Treasure Valley collected seven hits in the loss but stranded 15 runners on base. On the mound, Marco Aviles provided steady relief with 2 2/3 innings of work while allowing just one run, and Jordan McIntyre added a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
The Chukars return home this weekend for another crucial series against Yakima Valley with NWAC Championship hopes on the line. Treasure Valley needs to win at least one of the two games this weekend to advance to the NWAC Championship. The series will also mark Sophomore Night, making it an important weekend for fans to come out, support the team, and recognize the sophomore class.
