Treasure Valley Saddened over the Loss of Payton Higgins

We are saddened to learn of the loss of a former student and Chukar baseball player. 

Payton Jay Higgins passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family, just minutes into his 25th birthday on June 5, 2023, after an 18-month hard-fought battle with cancer.  

During his time at Canyon View High School in Cedar City, Utah, he received many regional and state recognitions. Upon graduation, he received a scholarship opportunity to attend Cal State University San Bernardino and spent one year as a redshirt in the baseball program.  

After that year, he transferred to Treasure Valley Community College and played baseball for the Chukars from 2017-2019. While at TVCC, he received an East Region Gold Glove and completed his associate degree. He then accepted an opportunity to attend and play at Bellevue University in Nebraska.  

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday June 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Enoch Stake Center (2233 East Village Green Rd, Enoch, UT). Online condolences may be left, and livestreaming of the service may be viewed at www.mortuary.org
