TVCC Hires Coaches

Ontario, OR - Chukar Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of John Farrington (Baseball Head Coach), Riley Helmick (Women's Basketball Head Coach), and Mayra Rodriguez (Volleyball Interim Head Coach).

John Farrington comes to TVCC from his most recent position as the Assistant Baseball Coach at Eastern Oregon University.  He is familiar with the NWAC, having served as an assistant coach for two years at Lane Community College.  TVCC Athletic Director Andy Ward

commented, "John came highly recommended by his peers and is making a fantastic transition!  He is working extremely hard on the recruiting front and is passionate about baseball!"  Riley Helmick, who served as TVCC's Interim Head Women's Basketball coach in 2020-21, is

no stranger to TVCC.  During the 2019-20 season she was the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach.  Riley, an Ontario native, was also an outstanding student athlete for the Chukars- holding the school record for made 3's in a season (85) and also for a career (143).  According to

Ward, "Riley has done a terrific job with the Women's Basketball program.  I have no doubt she will be highly successful!"  Mayra Rodriguez served as TVCC's Interim Volleyball Coach during the 2020-21 academic year.  Due to the impact of COVID-19, the Chukars

were unable to compete in volleyball during the shortened season.  Mayra agreed to continue in her current role through the 2021 season.  Ward said, "Mayra has been great through this tough time for Chukar Volleyball.  I look forward to watching her coach our volleyball team

this year!"
