Chukar Volleyball Improves to 14-2 After NWAC Crossover
[Albany, OR] - The TVCC Chukar Volleyball team delivered a strong performance at the NWAC Crossover Tournament held at Linn-Benton Community College, finishing with a 3-1 record. The tournament marked the conclusion of their pre-season schedule, setting them up well for upcoming Eastern Division play.
 
In their first match, the Chukars decisively defeated Whatcom Community College in straight sets, with scores of 25-10, 25-11, and 25-16. In their second match, they faced a challenging opponent in Linn-Benton Community College, ultimately falling in a hard-fought five-set battle with scores of 25-20, 20-25, 25-27, 25-23, and 8-15. Linn-Benton has been a formidable force in the NWAC, having appeared in the last four title matches and winning three.
 
The Chukars bounced back with consecutive victories against Centralia Community College and Lower Columbia Community College. They defeated Centralia in straight sets, 25-16, 26-24, and 25-18, and continued their dominance with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-23 win over Lower Columbia.
 
Throughout the tournament, the Chukars' offensive play was led by standout performers Karly Clark and Katelyn Markley. Clark averaged an impressive 13.75 kills and 12.75 digs per match, while Markley contributed 11.5 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore setter Naomi Shipley was instrumental in orchestrating the team's attack, averaging 25 assists per match.
 
The Chukars concluded their pre-season with an overall 14-2 record, with their only losses coming from Bellevue College, the last undefeated team in the NWAC, and Linn-Benton CC. A highlight of their pre-season was defeating Edmonds, handing the Tritons their only loss of the season.
 
The Chukars now turn their attention to the Eastern Division schedule, beginning with a home match against Wenatchee Valley College this Friday, September 19, 2025.
