Chukar Volleyball Earns #3 Spot on NWAC Coaches Poll
[Ontario, OR] - The Treasure Valley Community College Volleyball team began their season just under one month ago, and they are off to one of the best starts in the history of the program. The Chukars have played 13 games since the season opened on Friday, August 23rd, and they have picked up victories in 11 of those matchups. The only two losses were to National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) programs, as the Chukars flew south for the Pima Community College tournament at the end of August. Losses came against Glendale Community College, who has an overall record of 8-3 at the time of this release, and Scottsdale Community College, who is sitting at 7-2 overall at the time of this release. The Chukars have played a total of 43 sets this season, claiming victory in 33 sets, nearly a 77% winning percentage in sets played.

Treasure Valley has a good mix of experience and youth this season, with six members of their roster returning from the 2023 season. A seventh member, Rose Bouse, is also a returner, but due to a knee injury in the pre-season, Bouse was unable to play in any games during the year, making her a freshman athletically.

Freshman setter Naomi Shipley sits seventh in the NWAC with total assists per set, with 7.94. Shipley has a total of 270 assists so far this season. As a team, the Chukars sit second overall in the NWAC in service aces per set, at 2.57. The NWAC team leading the category is Linn-Benton, currently ranked #1 overall in the first Coaches Poll, with 2.60 service aces per set.

The Chukars, led by third-year coaching duo Rylie Engelson and Nick Bogar, will open up East Region play at home this Thursday, welcoming Big Bend Community College to Ontario. Big Bend enters the matchup with an overall record of 7-8. Thursday's contest will begin at 6:00pm (MST).
