Chukars Sweep Tritons in Home Opener
[Ontario, OR] - The Treasure Valley Community College Volleyball team found themselves at home for the first time during the 2024 season, as they welcomed the Edmonds Tritons to Ontario on Wednesday evening. Edmonds, out of Lynnwood, WA, played their 14th match of the season against the Chukars, finding themselves at an even .500 record. Treasure Valley ended the evening in the victory column, improving their record to 7-2 on the season. Notably, this was their 6th straight-set victory this year.
The Chukars were led by freshman Katelyn Markley, who recorded 14 kills. Freshman setter Naomi Shipley ended the night with 26 assists. Dominixe Celaya finished with 11 assists. Keysha Mckean tied for a game-high seven digs with Markley. Addison Adams and Shipley each had five digs of their own. As a team, the Chukars started off strong in the first set hitting .438 collectively, combining for 16 kills and only two errors. The errors increased to eight in both the second and third set, but TVCC managed to find 15 and 11 kills, respectively.
The back-and-forth battle ended with another straight-set victory for TVCC. The Chukars have only taken losses in eight sets this season, having played a total of 29 sets. In comparison to the entire NWAC, Naomi Shipley is currently 7th in the NWAC for assists per set, with 8.17. Addison Adams sits at 6th in the NWAC with service aces per set, at .71.
Treasure Valley will enjoy some time off before they host the East Region Crossover, where they will welcome Umpqua, Skagit Valley, Pierce, Lane, and Clark. The tournament will begin on Friday, September 13th.
