Chukar Track and Field Competes at Boise State, Numerous Chukars Earn Personal Records

[Boise, ID] - Treasure Valley Community College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams traveled to Boise, ID on Friday to compete in the inaugural Ed Jacoby Twilight Meet hosted by Boise State University. The incredibly competitive meet hosted the likes of Boise State University, Idaho State University, College of Idaho, Northwest Nazarene University, Montana State University, and Eastern Oregon University. Beyond the intense competition, the meet was also accompanied by wind, rain, and chilly temperatures in the late evening. Neither fearing the competition, nor the weather-related elements, 14 Chukars earned personal records on the night.

PRs earned at the Ed Jacoby Twilight meet include:

Women's

1. Mimi Marshall improved her 400mH time to 1:09.13 keeping her at Top 4 in the NWAC.

2. Haylee Cleaver ran a season best 27.71 in the 200m, moving her into the top 16 in NWAC.

3. The throwers quad of Janel Kinder, Leslie Kinder, Olivia Blute, and Addison Kennedy all PR'd in the Hammer, Discus, and Shot Put.

4. Goya Lemus had a very difficult 1500m/800m double that was spaced only 10 minutes apart. After running a PR 5:31.5 1500m, she quickly turned around and ran a season's best 2:33.93 800m. A truly gutsy performance given the circumstances.

Men's

1. The Jump Squad of Ethan Mulvany and Calvin Britton soared to new distances in the Long Jump and Triple Jump.

a. Ethan set a new PR in the Long Jump with a 6.53m (21'5.5") placing him 9th in NWAC. Ethan also finished 3rd overall in the Triple Jump and sits #5 in NWAC.

b. Cal soared to a 6.98m (22'10.75") jump that WON the Ed Jacoby Twilight Meet and extended his NWAC leading jump. He also finished 3rd in the 110mH and 400mH

2. Leland Tamez has battled an early season injury but has battled back and fought through the adversity of injury to crush his PR in the 400m with a time of 51.94. This time is nearing NWAC qualification.

3. Kylar Middleton improved his Hammer to a distance of 31.19m.

4. Adrian Vega qualified for finals in a very deep field of throwers with his put of 14.77m (48'5.5") and moved him to #3 in NWAC. Adrian is having a tremendous season and broke the online school record of Zach Barclay from 2004. While the official school record of 52'7.5" was set in 1970 it is safe to say that Adrian is among the top greats in TVCC history.

The Chukars are back in action this weekend at Linfield as NWAC Southern Regionals is only two weeks away!
