Women's Basketball Sweeps BMCC, Spokane

[Ontario, OR] - The Chukar Basketball teams, both men's and women's, delivered an impressive performance during their home series against Blue Mountain and Spokane. This string of victories took place at their home court, solidifying the men's team position at 1st in the East Region, while the women's team is now tied for 3rd in their conference.

In the men's games, the Chukars demonstrated their offensive prowess, defeating Blue Mountain with a commanding score of 96-74. Standout performances included Gabe Britton scoring 25 points and Jeremiah Williams leading with 33 points. Against Spokane, the men continued their dominance, securing a 91-87 victory, with Alain Nziza contributing significantly by scoring 19 points and shooting 5-6 from three-point range. These victories pushed their record to an undefeated 6-0 and underscored their offensive strength.
 
The women's team also completed a successful sweep, starting with an 86-59 victory over Blue Mountain. Ava Cuff was a key player, scoring 16 points. In their game against Spokane, the women faced a closely contested match in the first half but pulled away in the third quarter to win 77-61. Lilly Mallory and Raylynn Richardson were instrumental, scoring 18 and 16 points, respectively. The women's team now holds a 4-2 conference record.
 
Coach Eric Holbrook reflects on the games highlighting the significance of these victories: "I'm happy to beat the other top two teams in the East Region. Obviously, there are a lot of games left to figure out who the top team in the East is, but we have secured a good spot in the East for right now. We need to focus on getting better at what we do and making sure we play with effort every night."
 
Coach Riley Helmick on the women's side mentioned this about her team: "I am proud of our team for getting it done on the defensive end. Each game from here on out will be a battle and staying on top of the East Region standings will be the main focus as we get closer to the postseason. We will continue to focus on one game at a time and get better with the details every day."
