Treasure Valley Finds Win Column at Home

[Ontario, OR] - The Treasure Valley Community College Women's Basketball team was finally back at home after playing three of their first four Eastern Region contests on the road. Coming off a 71-66 loss at Yakima Valley College, Treasure Valley hosted the Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves on Wednesday, January 21st. 

Outscoring the T-Wolves by one after 10 minutes of play, the Chukars doubled their lead going into halftime, outscoring BMCC 35-26. The net was on fire in the third quarter for TVCC, where they put up 30 points to BMCC's 14. After winning the fourth quarter, Treasure Valley defeated Blue Mountain, 86-59. The Chukars were led by Ava Cuff with 16 points, while Rylie Calkins scored 13 and grabbed 9 rebounds. Lilly Mallory scored 12. Grace Hogan filled up the stat sheet, with 8 assists, 7 steals, and 7 points.

The Chukars, now 3-2 in the East Region, kept their #8 ranking in the latest NWAC Women's Basketball Coaches Poll that was released on January 20th. TVCC is tied for 3rd in the East Region standings with #7 Columbia Basin and Yakima Valley (RV). #6 Big Bend and #3 Walla Walla each sit tied for 1st with 4-1 region records. 

Treasure Valley will try to break their recent pattern of trading wins and losses as they host Spokane on Saturday. Spokane enters the game with a 1-4 East Region record. Men's tipoff is set for 12pm MST, while the women will follow at 2pm MST.
