Women's Basketball Goes 1-1 at Roadrunner Classic

[Albany, OR] - Treasure Valley women's basketball hit the road over the weekend to the Linn-Benton Community College Roadrunner Classic. On Friday evening, the Chukars faced off against the Portland Community College Panthers. The first half was a back-and-forth battle between the Panthers and Chukars, with the Panters going into halftime with a 4 point lead. To start the second half, the Chukars came out hot and outscored PCC by 13 in the 3rd quarter, and by 12 in the 4th quarter to win with a final score of 84-67. The Chukars saw strong performances by multiple players, including Emma Clark, with a game high 17 points. Maunayia Harrigfeld recorded another double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Hanna Roberts went stat for stat with Harrigfeld, recording 15 points and 17 rebounds of her own. Freshman Maddy Erickson chipped in with 10 points off the bench.

On day 2 of the weekend, the Chukars were up against the home team, Linn-Benton. The Roadrunners were undefeated going into the contest, posting a perfect 4-0 record. The Chukars struggled to score early, posting only 8 points of thier own, coming up short of LBCC's 21 in the first quarter. Treasure Valley finally saw success in the second quarter, out-scoring the Roadrunners 14-11. Still down at halftime, the Chukars made a final push in the second half to try and make a comeback, but ultimately fell short. The home team remained undefeated on the season, moving to 5-0. They outlasted the Chukars with a final score of 64-55. Mercedes bell was the leading scorer for the Chukars, posting a game-high 18 points on 6-10 shooting, going 5-9 from behind the arc. Emma Clark pitched in with 13 points of her own. Maunayia Harrigfeld recorded a double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds. Hanna Roberts snatched 12 rebounds. 

The Chukars record is now 3-4 going into their first home contest of the season. They will face College of Southern Idaho on Tuesday, December 7th at 5:30 pm for their first home competition of the 2021-22 season.
