Sydney Shober Earns NWAC Pitcher of Week Honors

[Ontario, OR] - On Wednesday, May 11th, the Northwest Athletic Conference announced the softball players of the week for May 2-8, 2022. Sophomore pitcher Sydney Shober, from Herriman, Utah, was awarded the NWAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. On May 6, 2022 vs. Wenatchee and May 7, 2022 vs. Yakima, Sydney pitched in 18 total innings, allowing just 5 runs, striking out 20 batters, and walking only 1. From the plate, she had a total of 6 RBI's, 3 hits, and 1 home run. 

While other Chukar student athletes have been nominated for athlete of the week through the year across all programs, Shober is the first student athlete this year from Treasure Valley to be awarded the honor. TVCC Head Softball Coach, Gordy Ogawa said this when asked about his ace pitcher, "Shober was called on to pitch 3 out of 4 games this past weekend. She is a team player and stepped up not only pitching but with her bat as well. Her award is well deserved!"

The Chukar softball crew will travel to Walla Walla Community College on May 13, 2022 and Columbia Basin College on May 14, 2022 to wrap up the regular season.
