Chukar Softball Sweeps Wenatchee, Splits with Yakima

[Wenatchee, WA] - On a road trip to central Washington, the TVCC Softball team earned two wins over the Wenatchee Valley Knights by scores of 9-0 and 13-4.

The first game went just five innings as the Chuks run-ruled the Knights. With a fast start, the Chuks scored 5 runs in the first inning. In this game, the Chuks had 6 hits, four coming from Hailee Lamoreaux, Sami Taylor, Mauri Wade, and Jessica Alder. Gabby Lamoreaux had two hits herself. Defensively, Sydney Shober pitched all five innings and had a total of 6 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Chuks once again went 5 innings. The Chuks had 11 hits this game and just 1 defensive error. Gabby Lamoreaux had two hits and Mauri Wade led the way for the Chuks with 3 hits in this game. Starting on the mound this game was Amber Wickel, followed by Sami Taylor, and closing it off for the Chuks was Sydney Shober. Shober had two strikeouts in her inning pitched.

On Saturday, the Chuks had a doubleheader against the Yakima Valley Yaks. The Chuks won the first game 7-0 with an outstanding performance on the mound by Sydney Shober. However, the Chuks fell in the second game by a score of 8-4 as they could not keep up with Yakima's momentum.

In game one, the Chuks had a total of 9 hits. Three of these hits came off the bat once again by Mauri Wade, who totaled 4 RBIs. Hailee Lamoreaux and Shyala Cherry also had 2 hits each in this matchup. In one of the best performances of her college career, Sydney Shober was close to throwing a no-hitter as she had 12 total strikeouts with just 1 hit against her.

The Chuks were hoping to carry these three victories into the last game of the weekend but came short of the sweep in game two against Yakima. The Chuks had just four hits and two errors in this matchup. The Chukars are hoping to bounce back this week as they have a home doubleheader against Big Bend on Friday, April 1st. TVCC Softball now sits 4-4 in conference and 5-13 overall.
