Men's Basketball Earns First Victory of Season
[Caldwell, ID] - The Treasure Valley Chukar Men's Basketball team faced off against the Diablo Valley Vikings at the College of Idaho on November 16th, securing their first win of the season with a final score of 88-77.
In this matchup, the Chukars overcame a 36-31 halftime deficit to come out victorious. The team showed resilience and determination, particularly in the second half, where they out-rebounded the Vikings and surged ahead on the scoreboard.
Sophomore Jeremiah Williams delivered a standout performance, contributing 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Eddie Rodriguez also played a pivotal role, shooting an impressive 7-12 from beyond the arc, finishing with 22 points. The contributions from the sophomores were a key factor in the Chukars' success in this game.
This victory was especially significant as it followed a narrow loss to Umpqua on Friday, providing the Chukars with much-needed momentum. Coach Eric Holbrook commented on the win, stating, "It's great to get the first win of the year. I'm proud of our guys for carrying over what we do every day in practice into games. There is still a lot of things that we can improve on, but right now I feel like the team is in a really good spot."
The TVCC Men's Basketball team will next play at Utah State University-Eastern in Price, UT the weekend of Thanksgiving.
