Chukar Men Defeated by Timberwolves, Sasquatch
[Pendleton, OR / Spokane, WA] - The Treasure Valley Community College Men's Basketball team played two tough road games last week, losing by a combined nine points. On Wednesday, TVCC played the Timberwolves from Blue Mountain in Pendleton. Despite 12 points from Ashraf Barsham in the first half, the Chukars trailed by two points after 20 minutes. While the game was back-and-forth, the Chukars were unable to edge out the T-Wolves on the road. BMCC bested TVCC, 91-86. Barsham finished with 26 points and eight rebounds. Kirath Makhar posted 24 points for the Chukars. Jeremiah Williams scored 14 points, all in the second half, and also grabbed seven rebounds.

In an effort to bounce back after Wednesday's defeat, Treasure Valley travelled to Spokane, WA to face the Sasquatch. With 9:24 remaining in the first half, the Chukars found themselves trailing 24-9. The final 10 minutes of the half were dominated by Treasure Valley, as they headed into the locker room at the half with a 37-36 advantage after a half-court heave at the buzzer by Barsham that banked in. TVCC made an impressive 28-12 run to finish the half. Coming alive again in the second half, similar to Wednesday's contest, Williams scored 17 points for the Chukars in the final 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the Chukars came up just short of earning the come-from-behind win, losing to the Sasquatch 81-77. Makhar led the Chukar men in scoring with 18 points. Williams finished with 17 points, including 8-8 from the charity stripe. Barsham finished with a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double. Eddie Rodriguez scored 11, while Deacon Kiesbuy scored 10.

Treasure Valley, now with an overall record of 7-11, and an East Region record of 3-3, find themselves T-3rd with Columbia Basin. The Chukars will next host the Wenatchee Valley Knights, currently 6-15 overall and 1-5 in the East, on Saturday, February 1st. The Knights are 8th in the East Region standings.
