Men’s Basketball Wraps Up Historic Season at NWAC Tournament

[Pasco, WA] – The Treasure Valley Community College Men's Basketball team recently wrapped up their historic 2023-24 season at the NWAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. The Chukars, who ended the season with a 23-7 overall record, and a 13-1 East Region record. They were the East Region regular season champions for the first time since the 2013-14 season.

Earning the East Region #1 seed, the Chukars matched up against the West Region #4 seed Tacoma Titans in the Sweet 16. The Titans got off to a hot start at the tip, and it was too much for the Chukars to handle. The Chukars' season would come to an end with a 87-70 loss to the Titans. Freshman Harkirath Makhar scored 26 points off the bench, while going 8-14 from the field. Sophomore Trevon Cason also chipped in with 17 points off the bench.

Treasure Valley had a handful of post-season honors, including Trevon Cason named First Team All-Region while Ashraf Barsham and Yel Deeng were named to the Second Team All-Region. Barsham was awarded the East Region Defensive Player of the Year, and second year Head Coach James Jansen was named the East Region Coach of the Year.

The Chukars will bring numerous players back as they look to continue building the program going into the 2024-25 season.
