Chukar Volleyball Goes 1-1 on the Road
[Albany, OR] - The Chukar Volleyball team boarded a plane Tuesday morning for a 2-game road trip on the western side of Oregon. They took on the Saints of Mt. Hood Community College on Tuesday, and the Roadrunners from Linn-Benton Community College on Wednesday. In Tuesday's matchup, the Chukars took the contest 3-1. Freshmen Addison Raebel and Macie Weatherly led the Chukars in kills, with 12 and 11, respectively. Keysha Mckean, also a freshman for TVCC, recorded 12 digs. The scores for Tuesday's match were 25-15, 25-20, 21-25, and 25-23. 
 
In Wednesday's matchup with the 2-time defending NWAC Champion Roadrunners, the Chukars were off to a slow start in the first set, but were able to recoup momentum and keep the remaining three sets competitive. While the Chukars were unable to escape with victory, they took the third set and forced a fourth set. Mcekan had a serving run of 8 consecutive points that helped the Chukars gain confidence and make the remaining sets a back-and-forth battle. Linn-Benton took the victory by scores of 25-9, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15. Freshman Mackenzie Olsen had a game-high 11 kills, and sophomore Lexy Parsons led the team in digs with 12.
 
Next up on the schedule for the Chukars is East Region opponent Yakima Valley. They will host the Yaks on Wednesday, September 6th at 6:00 pm. YVC is 2-2 on the season thus far. Notably, the Yaks were picked 8th in the NWAC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll.
