Chukar Baseball Takes Victories Over Southern Idaho, Clark College

[Ontario, OR] - The Treasure Valley Community College Baseball hosted their first series of the year at Elk's Memorial Field on March 13th, as they faced the College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles. The Chukars split with the Golden Eagles, taking game one 7-1, and dropping the second game 16-2. In the victory, Corbin Sanchez started the game with a solo home run as the lead-off batter, and the Chukars never looked back. Sanchez recorded 3 RBI's, Gunner Wilhelm had 2, and Sage Strayer and Kaden Knowles each recorded one RBI. The Chukar pitchers combined for a total of 8 strikeouts in the game.

The second game of the doubleheader did not go in favor of the Chukars, as they struggled to connect the bat to the ball. Mason Kent recorded an RBI in the 16-2 loss. Zachary Garner, Daniel Kormylo, and Gavin Martin each struck out 3 batters in the loss.

On March 16th and 17th, the Chukars hosted the Penguins from Clark College in a four-game series. The Chukars split each of the days, losing the first and third games, while winning the second and fourth games. On Saturday, Ryan Horvath recorded an RBI in the 12-1 loss to the Penguins. Trem Tolman struck out 4 batters in his 3.1 innings pitched. In game two, Colton Sneddon pitched 5.0 innings, striking out 8 batters. Michael Christensen had the highlight of the day, as he hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 5th inning. This was the first lead the Chukars held on the day, and they never looked back. They pulled out the victory, 8-7.

On Sunday, the Chukars dropped game three 7-3. Jaime Silva pitched 7.0 innings, striking out 3 batters, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. To end the series, the Chukars played a 7-inning stunner that ended in walk-off fashion, thanks to an RBI single from Josh Lucido. Michael Christensen hit a solo-home run, and Zachary Garner struck out 8 batters in 5.0 innings.

Treasure Valley will travel to Salt Lake Community College on March 23rd for a doubleheader with the Bruins.
