Titans Hold Off Chukars 59-49 to Move onto Elite 8

PASCO, Wash. – The defending champion Lane Titans ended the Sweet 16 with a 59-49 victory over the Treasure Valley Chukars on Saturday night at the NWAC Women's Basketball Championship, presented by Golf Universe, at Columbia Basin College.

The Titans (27-2) pulled away late from the Chukars (12-17) after battling for the first 30 minutes. The game featured six lead changes and six tied scores as the No. 4-seed Chukars gave the Titans all they could handle.

Lane used a 13-7 fourth quarter advantage to close out the game, holding TVCC to 3-for-16 in the final 10 minutes. Treasure Valley sank nine three pointers in the game that continued to keep them close, but the tough Lane defense forced 27 turnovers, earning a 24-6 advantage in points of turnovers.

The Titans were led by Mya Adams who scored 16 points with five steals and four rebounds off the bench. Emma McDonald had 13 points, four rebounds and three steals and Micah Wicks had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Havyn Brown paced the Chukars with 13 points off the bench, knocking down three three-pointers. Rachel McKea had a game-high 10 rebounds and a remarkable nine blocked shots.

The Titans advance onto the Elite 8 round where they will face No. 2 seed Edmonds on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Holden Court.
