Katelyn Markley Named Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week
[Ontario, OR] - Freshman outside hitter Katelyn Markley was named the NWAC Sports Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week for October 7th-13th, 2024. Over the week, the #5 ranked Treasure Valley Volleyball team took down the Walla Walla Community College Warriors on the road, winning 3-0 (25-18, 29-27, 25-16), and then was able to claim victory over the #10 ranked Wenatchee Valley College Knights in four sets, winning 3-1 (25-13, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22). Markley had a 43.3% attack percentage with 16 total kills in the Walla Walla contest. Against the Knights, Markley put down 17 kills for a combined 33 kills during the week. She averaged an attack percentage of 38.6%.
Markley leads the team with a total of 225 kills this season. She is second on the team in hitting percentage, sitting at 30.7%. Markley's efforts this season have helped the Chukars to a 17-3 overall record, and currently sitting at second place in the East Region with a conference record of 6-1. The Chukars will host Blue Mountain and Yakima Valley in their next two contests. This is Katelyn's first Athlete of the Week honor this season.
