Half Way Mark

Coming off a tough loss to the number one team in the east, the Lady Vikes made their longest conference road trip to Ontario, Oregon to face off versus the Chukars of Treasure Valley Community College. 

After the six hour road trip, Moser stated "It was like we never got off the bus". The Lady Vikes could not seem to find their stride as they suffered another tough loss on the road losing three straight sets. Set one was the highlight of the trip as the Lady Vikes gave the Chukars a run for their money dropping the first set by a score of 25-23. After dropping the first set, nothing seemed to go right for the Viking offense as they dropped the following two sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-15. BBCC's defense has been the bright spot throughout the course of the season as Moser had this to say regarding the team effort, "We just couldn't get anything going, our defense was the only thing keeping us in the game. 4 players having double digit digs is great, but if you can't finish the play and put a ball away, it doesn't mean anything. Our passing was not what it should've been either and so we were out of system consistently and it's hard to be successful offensively. But we still need to find a way to score and unfortunately we weren't finding any open spots on the court, we were swinging right at them."

Ashley White, Grace Fedie, Emma Lucas and Laura Forsgren all collected double digit digs while Audrey Wellhausen was the lone offensive standout with 11 kills. Although there were positives to the match, Head Coach Alexa Moser expressed her thoughts. "We keep finding ourselves in close sets but not coming out on the winning end. We have to find a way to execute at the end of a set. We've been backing off and aren't taking big aggressive swings and that's not how we're going to win games. It's all about mind setand if we're playing to not lose instead of playing to win, we'll keep coming out on the losing end."

Moser also chimed in regarding the mind set of the team moving forward and stated "It's going to be a long season if we don't collectively decide to make a change and turn things around. Good news is we get to play everyone again, so we'll get a second chance with all these teams to prove who we really are."

A banged up Lady Vikes are fortunate to have a bye this upcoming Wednesday prior to heading to Wenatchee Valley College on Friday October 6th.
