    Assistant Volleyball Coach

Bio

TVCC Chukar alum Vanessa (Gomez) Paulsen will be starting her third year as an assistant coach.  Prior to assisting Coach Mellinger, she was an assistant coach to the previous two head coaches of the TVCC Chukar Volleyball program.

Paulsen attended Albertson College of Idaho her freshman of college, but did not play a sport due to a senior year ACL injury.  After transferring back to TVCC the following year, she spent both her collegiate playing years at TVCC during the 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 seasons.  During her time as a six-rotation outside hitter, Paulsen helped the Chuks reach the NWAC tournament both years and was named to the Eastern Conference First Team during her sophomore campaign.  After completing her sophomore season free of injury, Paulsen decided her collegiate playing days were done.  She now plays for fun in fundraising tournaments, recreation programs, and the annual TVCC alumni match.  Paulsen enjoys teaching young players how to develop their skills as well as their love and passion for the game.  She is also looking forward to teaching her children to play the sport she enjoys the most.

Paulsen obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Multidisciplinary Studies from Eastern Oregon University in 2011.  She and her husband, Chris, have three children.  Their daughter, Charlotte, is four years old, and their identical twin boys, Lane and Milo, are seven months old.  They all reside in Ontario on their “mini farm” that includes two dogs, two cows, two pigs, and fourteen chickens.
