TVCC Track and Field Dominates Southern Championships With Record-Breaking Performances

Treasure Valley Community College Track and Field excelled at the Southern Championships on a sunny day, achieving nine event top-three finishes, with five event champions and setting three school records.

This past weekend at the track meet, Treasure Valley athletes saw a lot of individual success. Emma Barton delivered a standout performance in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, running a personal record by 40 seconds to win the event and break the school record by 12 seconds. Ashten Moore placed 1st in the womens triple jump and secured a personal best, and Ambrie Draper earned 4th in triple jump and also had a personal best. Abby Nunez earned a personal best in womens long jump and in the womens 200m. Leland Tamez finished with a PB in the mens 400m hurdles, and Brayden Lamanna finished 1st in the mens 1500m.

The men's 4x100 relay team secured third place, breaking their own school record with a personal record improvement of 0.63 seconds. Additionally, the men's 4x400 relay team won their event, running a personal best by three seconds and surpassing their previous school record by nearly two
seconds.

Coach Ryan Jaggi expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "We got in and competed this week and the results showed. This meet showed that we are peaking at the right time heading into NWACS this coming Monday/Tuesday."

As they prepare for the NWAC Championships on May 18th and 19th at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, OR, Treasure Valley will be represented by 14 student-athletes. The team's achievements at the Southern Championships underscore their readiness for the upcoming competition.
