Women's Basketball Returns from Linn-Benton Crossover, Going 2-1
[Albany, OR] - The Treasure Valley Community College Women's Basketball team competed in the 2025 NWAC Women's Basketball Crossover Tournament hosted by Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, OR, from December 12th to 14th. The team finished with a 2-1 record.
In their opening game, #7 Treasure Valley faced off against #6 Lower Columbia College and suffered a narrow loss with a final score of 77-72. Lilly Mallory showcased a strong performance, scoring 26 points, while Lucy Richards contributed 15 points and 8 rebounds. Ava Cuff added 12 points and 7 rebounds to the team's effort.
Treasure Valley bounced back in their second game with a decisive victory over Linn-Benton Community College, winning 81-61. This was their third contest against the Roadrunners this season, where they earned victory in all three games. Lilly Mallory continued her scoring prowess with 19 points, and Ava Cuff nearly achieved a double-double with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
The final game saw Treasure Valley securing another win against Bellevue College, 74-57. Ava Cuff led the scoring with 19 points and collected 8 rebounds. Lucy Richards recorded her first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Grace Hogan set a career high with 9 assists, demonstrating her playmaking abilities. Hogan, who ranks second in assists per game across the entire Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC), facilitated the offense all weekend, averaging 7.3 assists throughout the tournament.
Reflecting on the tournament, Head Coach Riley Helmick expressed pride in the team's performance, stating, "I am proud of our team for their efforts at the Linn-Benton Crossover. They played great team basketball, and the energy on the bench carried onto the court in big ways." The coach also highlighted the importance of such tournaments in preparing for the challenging East Region play and upcoming matchups in Kansas City, MO.
Treasure Valley, who currently has an overall record of 8-3, will travel to Kansas City, MO to face three high-caliber NJCAA teams to open 2026. They will host Columbia Basin College, currently 8-1 overall, on Wednesday, January 7th in Ontario, OR.
