Bio

Gordy Ogawa took over the Chukar Softball program in the summer of 2009. In only his second season, he guided the Chukars to their first NWAC appearance in school history. The Chukars have qualified for the NWAC Championships in 8 of the last 11 seasons with 2 seasons Covid-19 related with no NWAC Championships. In 2014 the team placed 3rd in the NWAC Championships. While at Treasure Valley, he has coached 5 NFCA All Americans, 2 NFCA Catchers of the Year, 65 Academic All Americans, 1 NWAC Player of the Year and 1 East Region MVP. “We look forward to the many challenges of winning a championship.”

Coach Ogawa comes to Treasure Valley with a long history of youth involvement and coaching softball in the local area. After playing and coaching fast pitch softball while in the service, Coach Ogawa started coaching at Ontario High School from 1994-2004. While at OHS, the team won 4 league titles. In 1995 he helped start the Field of Dreams summer program to help players elevate their level of play. He has extensive experience coaching travel ball teams. His travel teams won state titles at U14, U16, and U18. He has coached in 3 National Championships. Coach Ogawa’s 2002 Field of Dreams U18 team won the Western National Championship held in Spokane, WA. All 14 players went on to play collegiate softball. In 2006 he was an assistant coach for a select group of collegiate players who represented the USA in the Australian Friendship Series held in Sydney, Australia. The team played in the championship game held at the 2000 Olympic Softball Stadium.

Coach Ogawa and his wife Niki reside in Ontario, OR and have 3 outstanding children; Leslie, Matthew, Jena and 3 grandchildren; Kaleb, Kailey and Nolan.
