Chukar Softball Takes Two in Double-Header Against Big Bend

[Ontario, OR] - The Chukar softball team earned a much-needed sweep over the Big Bend Vikings on Friday. With heavy preparation over the week, the Chuks were hoping for a sweep as standings in the East region were at stake. The final scores of these ball games were 14-5 and 8-7.

As for game one, the Chuks kept it to a 5-inning ball game. Just after the first inning, the Chuks put up 11 runs and didn't look back. The first game totals were 16 hits and 2 errors. Mauri Wade also notably had a home run and Sami Taylor had four RBIs.

In a close game two, it came down to the bottom of the seventh for the Chuks. Hailee Lamoreaux had a two-run shot to walk the game off for the Chuks. Lamoreaux had 5 RBIs in this game. Despite their 5 errors, the Chuks' 13 hits allowed them to stay in the game and ultimately come out on top.

With these wins, TVCC softball now sits at 6-4 in conference play and 7-13 overall. Finally finding some continuity, the Chuks hope to remain strong and carry this momentum into their away games versus Blue Mountain on Tuesday, April 5th. The Chuks sit at 4th in the East region, behind Big Bend, Columbia Basin and top-ranked Walla Walla.
