CHUKS split with Spokane, win game one 12-11 lose game two 11-7

(Ontario, OR) - The TVCC lady CHUKS split the hard way on Saturday with Spokane at the Heinz Ore-Ida complex, winning game one 12-11 but losing game two 11-7.

In game one, the CHUKS were trailing 11-3 going into the bottom of the fifth. However, the CHUKS scored 9 runs in the final two frames, including 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to pull out the win. Raelyn Curry earned the win in relief. Sophomore Elise Shenk led the offense going 3-4 with a HR and 3 RBI's. Jaysee Willmorth, Makayla Aberasturi, Curry, and Debbie Henze each collected two hits. Macie Smith hit her second HR of the season and Curry also homered.

In game two, the CHUKS led 6-5 going into the top of the 7th and needed just 3 outs to get the sweep, but the Sasquatch erupted for 6 runs to take the lead 11-6. The CHUKS scored one in the bottom of the seventh before losing 11-7.

Henze went 3-4 with an RBI. Shenk, Bailee Mills, and Jordyne Ketchum each delivered two hits. Aberasturi hit her first HR of the season.

The Chukars, 4-6 overall and 2-2 in league, will travel to Walla Walla and Columbia Basin this coming weekend.
