Chuks rally in the bottom of the 8th to win and split with NIC

(Ontario, OR) - Sophomore Debbie Henze delivered a big 2 out double in the bottom of the 8th inning to score Kirsten Wert with the winning run in a dramatic win for the Chukars over North Idaho College 8-7 in the second game of the doubleheader.

In game one, the CHUKS jumped out to a 3-0 lead only to allow NIC 7 runs in the top of the 6th inning. The CHUKS came back with 3 in the bottom of the sixth to close it to 7-6 but the Cardinals scored 3 more in the top of the 7th to win 10-6.

Bailee Mills went 2-3 with 4 RBI's to lead the CHUKAR offense. Jaycee Willmorth and Debbie Henze each collected two hits. Mills suffered her 3rd loss of the season.

In game two the CHUKS put a 5 spot on the Cardinals in the 4th inning to jump out to a 5-3 lead. The Chukars added two more runs to lead 7-5 going to the 7th. However the Cardinals scored two in the top of the 7th to send the game into extra innings. Henze delivered the big hit in the bottom of the 8th to knock in the winning run to give the CHUKS the 8-7 win and a split.

Macie Smith led the CHUKS with 3 hits including a solo HR. Elise Shenk went 3-4 with an RBI and Mills, Jordynne Ketchum, and Henze all collected 2 hits. Mills picked up the win in relief.

The CHUKS will host Spokane in a doubleheader on Saturday.
