Mason Venema of Manhattan Christian High School Signs with Treasure Valley Men’s Basketball Team
Mason Venema, a multi-sport standout from Manhattan Christian High School in Bozeman, Montana, has officially committed to play collegiate basketball for the Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) Chukars. A dynamic athlete and proven winner, Venema brings a remarkable combination of talent, leadership, and academic excellence to one of the Northwest's most competitive junior college basketball programs.
On the basketball court, Venema's high school career was special. He was a three-time First Team All-State and All-Conference selection, helping guide Manhattan Christian to three straight state championship game appearances, capturing two state titles and finishing as runner-up. He ranks fifth all-time in scoring in program history, leaving behind a legacy of clutch performances and offensive brilliance, including a 38-point outing during his senior season. His talent and impact were further recognized with a selection to the prestigious Montana-Wyoming All-Star Game, a showcase of the region's top graduating seniors.
Equally impressive in the classroom, Venema was named Academic All-State in all four of his high school years, demonstrating his commitment to excellence on and off the court.
Beyond basketball, Venema was also a standout wide receiver on the football field. He was named First Team All-State as a wide receiver three times and earned Offensive Player of the Year honors in his conference. His elite athleticism and playmaking ability also earned him a selection to the Montana East-West Shrine Game, one of the state's most prestigious high school football events.
Treasure Valley Community College, located in Ontario, Oregon, competes in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) and is known for its strong athletic tradition and commitment to player development. Venema's versatility, winning mentality, and proven track record make him a valuable addition to the Chukars' men's basketball roster.
"We are excited to add in a player with versatility like Mason has," said Head Coach Eric Holbrook. "He is a winner and has proven that throughout his high school career. Mason checks off all the boxes as a basketball player and a person that we want here in our program."
Reflecting on his decision, Venema shared, "I chose TVCC because it was the perfect fit. Coach Holbrook and Coach Castro were amazing during the recruiting process, and I built a great relationship with them. I feel that TVCC is really going to thrive these next couple of years, and it is something I want to be a part of. I believe that the coaching staff gives me the best opportunity to take my game to the next level, and I am super excited to become a Chukar!"
Mason is supported by a loving and dedicated family: his mother, Keri Venema, father, Keith Venema, brothers Ethan and Zach Venema, and sister Savanah Venema. Their encouragement and involvement have played a pivotal role in Mason's journey both athletically and personally.
