Baseball Takes One Game from Spokane, Hands Them Loss #2 in Region Play

[Ontario, OR] - The Chukar baseball team played their 4-game series with the Sasquatch from Spokane last week, going 1-3. Spokane, who was 11-1 coming into the series, sits #1 in East Region baseball standings. While they took the first three games from TVCC, 7-0, 2-0, and 2-0, respectively, the Chukar bats found the ball in game four, as they won 6-4. This was Spokane's 2nd loss in region play, where they are now 14-2. 

Treasure Valley, held scoreless in the first three games, found their hot streak in the final game of the series. Doubles came from sophomores Kash Akita and Braden Horsley, while RBIs came from Akita (2), Horsley, Isaac Bateman, and Gabe Garza. The Chukars tallied six hits in the game, four came from Horsley and Bateman, each with two. Mitch Thomas started on the mound, going 3.0 innings, allowing 1 run, and striking out 2 batters. Caleb Ward saw 3.0 innings, allowing 1 run, and striking out 1 batter. Isaac Bateman finished on the mound with 3.0 innings, 2 runs, and 2 strikeouts. 

The Chukars, who are 6-10 in the East Region standings, are set to host the Yakima Valley College Yaks on Wednesday, game times 1 pm and 4 pm. The Yaks are 7-9 in region play. Then, Saturday, the Chukars hit the road to wrap up the series with a doubleheader in Yakima.
