Chukar Baseball Splits Final Pre-Season Series

[Ontario, OR] - In his first appearance as interim head baseball coach, Kyle Pearson's Chukar baseball team wrapped up their pre-season schedule with a home series against the Cougars from Clackamas Community College. On Saturday, the Chukars took both games from the Cougars by scores of 8-7 and 14-7. In the first game, Austin Ollar had a home run, while Drew Deal hit two doubles. Khye Montoya, Braden Horsely, Austin Ollar, Nick Eliason, Drew Deal, and Ace Felise all statted RBI's. On the mound, Shai Lolo-Tamashiro struck out three batters in 3 innings pitched. 

In game two, Drew Deal and Andrew Sharp both hit homers of their own. RBI leaders were Drew Deal with 5, Cody Higgins and Braden Horsley each had 2. Ira Lee, Edgar Alvarado, and Andrew Sharp each brought in 1. On the mound, Warner Robertson struck out 4 batters, Brit Lusk and Brett Allen struck out 3 each, and Mason Anderson struck out 1 batter. The pitching crew combined to strike out 11 batters. 

On Sunday, the Chukars struggled to get their bats going. The Cougars took both games from the Chuks, with scores of 6-2 and 8-2 (7 innings). In the first game of the day, Scorr Baker started on the mount. In 3 innings, Baker struck out 4 batters. Adrian Burciaga also came in for 3 innings of his own to strike out 4 batters. Roenikk Hernandez pitching 3 innings, struking out 1 batter. 

In the final game of the series, Oakley Lawrence pitched 1.1 innings, and struck out 2 batters, Mason Anderson pitched 3 innings, struking out 2. Louden Marsalis and Joey Raker each pitched 1 innings, Marsalis struck out 1 batter, and Raker struck out 2. 

This weekend improved the Chukar's record to 5-13. On Wednesday, Treasure Valley will host Columbia Basin in the first East Region games of the season. Game times for Wednesday are set for 1 and 4 pm. Columbia Basin comes into the games with an overall record of 17-5, and they are sitting atop the East Region Standings. Treasure Valley currently sits in 5th.
