Errors Prove Costly

After dropping three of their first four conference games the Lady Vikes were hoping to get on track as they hosted Treasure Valley Community College on Friday March 24th and Blue Mountain Community College the following day.

Game one of the weekend did not get off on the right foot as BBCC pitching surrendered six runs in the top half of the first creating a large mountain to climb. The Lady Vikes pitching was unable to hold the high powered TVCC offense giving up 12 runs over the course of 7 innings. Big Bend's offense could not keep up with Treasure Valley as they scored 5 runs on 5 hits over the course of the game resulting in a 12-5 loss. Alyssa Krause went 1-3 with a three-run homerun while Rebecca Carson collected two hits and drove in one in the game one loss.

Hoping to bounce back from a tough game one loss, the Lady Vikes battled hard until numerous defensive miscues proved costly. With the Lady Vikes defense committing 7 errors throughout the course of the game, it was an up hill battle. Rebecca Carson threw 7 innings on 10 run ball while only giving up 5 earned runs. Chloe Peirce had two hits, scored a run and drove in two, along with Kaitlyn Rosenburg chipping in with two hits in a 10-3 Lady Vikes loss.

The Lady Vikes then took on Blue Mountain Community College for two on Saturday March 25th. A high scoring affair was a back and forth battle in which BBCC had the last laugh. Big Bend was able to score 10 runs in the first three innings which was just enough to edge out the Timberwolves in game one by a score of 10-9. Alyssa Krause had a monster game going 3-4 with 2 runs scored, 3 RBI's including a homerun, along with Chloe Peirce who was a perfect 3-3 with two doubles, 3 runs scored and an RBI capped off by Rebecca Carson who went 2-3, scored 3 times and drove in two in the Lady Vike victory.

The fourth and final game of the weekend gave the Lady Vikes the opportunity for a split but the Timberwolves had other plans. Another rough defensive showing for the Lady Vikes proved costly as the Timberwolves were able to complete a 5 inning 10 run mercy rule with a final score of 12-1.

BBCC travels to Wenatchee to battle it out versus the Knights on Tuesday March 28th!
