Chuks sweep Big Bend CC 6-1 and 13-9

(Moses Lake, WA) - Sophomore Elise Shenk hit a 2 out grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to complete a six run inning and give the CHUKS a 13-9 win and a sweep over Big Bend CC on Saturday.

In game one: Sophomore Bailee Mills pitched a complete game allowing only one run on 6 hits and recording 6 strikeouts. The CHUKS scored 2 in the fifth and 4 in the seventh on 3 home runs hit by Jaysee Willmorth, Shenk, and Makayla Aberasturi. Shenk and Aberasturi each collected two hits.

In game two: Mills came in relief of starting pitcher Raelyn Curry to earn second win of the day. The Chukars were outhit by the Vikings from Big Bend CC 16-13, but the Chukars came through with timely hits, including Shenk's grand slam HR in the sixth inning.

Shenk went 3-5; Jordan Henley went 3-5; Lynsey Hudelson went 2-5; Jordynne Ketchum went 2-3; and Debbie Henze went 2-4 to lead the Chukar offensive attack.

The Chukars, 12-10 overall and 10-6 in league, will travel to Spokane and North Idaho next weekend.
