CHUKS drop doubleheader with Yakima Valley 6-3 and 5-3
(Ontario, OR) - The Yakima Valley Yaks hit a two run HR in the top of the ninth in game one to pull out the win 6-3, and did it again in game two, hitting another 2 run HR to win game two 5-3.
In game one: The Chukars took a 3-1 lead into the 7th inning only to give up two runs and then gave up a 3 spot in the ninth to lose 6-3 to the defending NWAC champs.
Starting pitcher Tanner Cantwell went 5.1 innings giving up only 1 run and recording 7 strikeouts. Levi Abrahamson suffered the loss in relief. The Chuks only managed six hits with Cantwell delivering an RBI double.
In game two: It was deja vu for the CHUKS taking a 2-1 lead into the seventh only to give up 2 runs. The CHUKS tied it up in the bottom of the seventh on back to back doubles by Cole Jones and Logan LaFamina. But again, the Yaks hit a 2 run HR in the top of the ninth to pull out the win 5-3.
Brad Jekich went 3-4 and Cantwell went 2-4 to lead the CHUKS.
The CHUKS, 13-12 overall and 4-4 in league, will host Blue Mountain CC on Wednesday starting at 1 pm
